Herringbone Trinket Basket Pattern
Are you ready to welcome another sister into the Herringbone Basket family? I sure hope so because this may be my favorite one yet! Introducing The Herringbone Trinket Basket pattern!
Inspiration
A little backstory on how these baskets came to life… I am recently engaged! (I may have known it was coming, just not exactly when… ) Because of that, I knew I wanted a place to (eventually) put my ring around the house in spots where I knew I may need or want to take it off, while ensuring I wouldn’t lose it. Enter in the Herringbone Trinket Basket Pattern – the perfect little basket to hold my ring while I’m doing the dishes, sleeping at night, or taking a shower.
Because I also love a good nesting basket, I knew we couldn’t just have 1 size for this trinket basket patter, so I worked on adding a couple bigger sizes! The Medium size turned out to be perfect for holding bracelets on your dresser, knickknacks in the living room, or kitchen scrubbies by the sink in the kitchen, while the larger size works great for all of those things as well as being the perfect size for cute coaster storage!
Herringbone Trinket Basket Pattern Details
The Herringbone Trinket Basket is an easy, quick make that uses basic stitches to create 3 beautifully textured baskets to decorate your home.
Difficulty Level
This pattern is perfect for an advanced-beginner crocheter. It uses basic stitches and also introduces the maker to working in the round, as well as finishing off the basket in a seamless way. Also, I have pattern notes written at the beginning of the pattern that serve as helpful reminders in the areas that could be tricky.
Sizing / Gauge
Gauge is relatively important for this trinket basket pattern if you want to make your baskets the same size as mine. Obviously, you’re welcome to make them larger or smaller to suit your needs, but gauge will be you best friend if you want to nest them inside each other.
Yarn
For all of my trinket baskets, I used Bernat Maker, a category 5 yarn that I am obsessed with, however, if you don’t have access to that yarn or simply don’t want to use the yarn I did, any tubular cotton/nylon yarn should work. You will want to make sure it’s thick enough to hold the towel once it’s hanging on the appliance handle. Some other options are also listed below:

Pattern Testing
Lastly, one thing I always make sure to do before each pattern release is to have the new pattern tested by makers just like you. This trinket basket pattern was no different! I had some fantastic gals that tested and they absolutely rocked it.
